Adding Sensors "Over-the-Air"

Download our mobile app from the Apple App Store and Google Play to quickly and easily add a Sapphire Eye sensor to your tenant in the cloud. Just search for "7SIGNAL".  You may also use the app to add sensors connected via Ethernet.

Additionally, Apple device owners may use the app to run an Shortcut and view your devices Wi-Fi connection details. Just tap the "Refresh" button.  This function is also available on Android. See below...

    Adding a Sensor

Tap the "Configure Sensor" button to begin the process.

    • First, you will log into your 7SIGNAL account, the same way you do today. If you are using SAML based SSO, then logging in may be a multi-step process depending on your organization.
    • "Allow" or grant the 7SIGNAL app the camera permission when asked, then the camera app will launch.
    • Use the camera app to scan the QR code on the bottom of 7S6300 sensors.  For all other model sensors, you can manually type in the serial number and MAC address to add it to your account.
  • Next, you will select your "group" name, which should correspond to the name of your organization, followed by selecting your connection type, either Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

If the sensor is connected via Ethernet, then select the Ethernet option and tap Continue. The sensor is immediately added to your account and you are finished!

Go to Configurator and run the Setup Wizard or Quick Setup utility.

    • To configure your sensor "over-the-air," choose Wi-Fi for connection type and tap Continue.
    • The sensor goes into "access point mode" and you will be asked to join its network. Choose "Join" when asked.
    • After joining the sensor's network, it will immediately start scanning the area for  Wi-Fi networks. Identify a network of yours for the sensor to join.
It doesn't matter which Wi-Fi network the sensor joins.  For simplicity, choose a guest network that is "open" or only requires a pre-shared key for authentication.  The goal is to simply give the sensor an Internet connection so that it may register itself in your tenant.
    • Once it joins your Wi-Fi network, the sensor is added to your tenant and process is complete. Go to Configurator and run the Setup Wizard or the Quick Setup utility for this sensor.
