SLA definitions set targets for good Wi-Fi performance and provide you with a percentage of compliance. Automated alarms are separate, and trigger an email notification when certain conditions that you configure are met. 7SIGNAL also provides SMTP traps and webhooks for integrations with others systems.
Automated alarms are created through the Configurator user interface, under the Manage menu. The video below will walk you through the process.
To select the alarms you want, start by going to to the 'Manage' menu, then select 'Alarm Configuration'.- If you have already used the Setup Wizard, you will see a default Alarm Group
- To create an new group of alarms, right-click 'Alarm Group', select 'Add Alarm Group'
- Give the Alarm Group a name
- To the left, expand the Alarm Templates folder
- Expand Critical alarms and Warning alarms to reveal what is available
- Drag and drop the alarms from the lists into the white space
- Click Save
- Expand Critical alarms and Warning alarms to reveal what is available
- You will see the name of your newly created Alarm Group in the list
- Configure the values and the sensitivity of each alarm in the group
- Right-click each alarm, click Edit
- Save changes
- Map the Alarm Group to a location
- In your topology, right-click the location
- Click 'Bind APs to alarm Group', select the Alarm Group you just created
To configure who you want to receive these alarm notifications, next go to the 'Manage' menu, select 'Alarms', then select 'Email Forwarding'.
- Right-click 'Alarm e-mail configurations' and select 'Add email configuration'
- Enter a name for this alarm configuration
- In the 'New Recipient' box, enter an email address, click 'Add'
- Check the boxes for 'Cleared alarms' and 'Raised alarms'
- Check the box for 'Alarm Groups' and select your newly created alarm group
- Select 'include charts and 'other BSSIDs' if you want this accompanying detail to be included with the alarm
- Click Save
