You may want to move a Sapphire Eye to a new location and start Wi-Fi performance testing. Follow these steps to master this important skill. Go to the Configurator user interface and watch the video walk-through below.
Moving a Sapphire Eye to a new location that has not been previously scanned or set up...
- First, create the new location in the topology
- Right-click on your organization name, then click 'Add Service Area'
- Give it a name in the 'New Value' field
- Click Save
- Stop testing on the Sapphire Eye that you want to move
- Right-click on the name of the SE, select 'Automated test status'
- Click the 'Stop' button to stop automated testing
- Change the name of the Sapphire Eye you stopped
- Right-click the Eye again, click Edit
- Change the name of the Eye to something that reflects the new service area name
- Click Save
- Remove all access points under this Sapphire Eye
- Under the newly named Sapphire Eye, expand the topology to reveal 'Managed' and 'Own' menu items
- Right-click 'Managed' and select 'Remove all Access Points'
- Confirm by clicking OK
- Right-click 'Own' and select 'Remove all Access Points'
- Confirm by clicking OK
- Move the Sapphire Eye in the topology
- Right-click the newly named Sapphire Eye, select 'Cut'
- Go to the newly created service area, right-click, select 'Paste Eye'
- Physically move the Sapphire Eye to the new location
- Bring your laptop with you
- Unplug Sapphire Eye from old area, icon in topology will turn red
- Go to new area and plug it in, icon in topology will turn green
- Wait for the blue blinking light on the Sapphire Eye unit before proceeding
- Scan new area
- Go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Setup Wizard'
- Click 'Show configured Eyes'
- Select the newly named Sapphire Eye (highlighted in different color also)
- Click 'Next'
- Identify and select the proper networks
- Click 'Next' to begin the scan
- When the scan is complete, make sure the number of managed AP's does not exceed 30, otherwise the duty cycle for testing will be too long
- Click 'Next'
- Configure network keys (open networks do not require a key)
- Add new keys here, if necessary
- Click 'Next'
- Configure Sonar endpoints
- Map SSIDs to Sonar endpoints to test against.
- Click 'Next'
- Quick test will begin to verify the setup
- Click 'Exit' after successful completion
- Go to newly moved Sapphire Eye in the topology
- Right-click and select 'Bind to Test Profile'
- Select the correct test profile (previously created)
- Right-click the Eye again, select 'Automated test status'
- Verify the proper test profile name
- Click the play button to begin automated testing
