If you have identified unusually high data consumption by Mobile Eye on your devices, follow the steps below to address and optimize your data usage. Mobile Eye is set to a 5-second testing period; however, the proxy may continue downloading the entire file even after the client stops, resulting in substantial data consumption primarily caused by the proxy.
- If needed for internal testing, limit these tests to internal wireless networks.
- This step will significantly reduce bandwidth usage during tests.
- Check if there is a proxy between the Mobile Eye agent and 7Signal external sonar servers.
- Change default Sonar servers to "none" to prevent external tests.
- Re-enable your proxy server and monitor for any impact on bandwidth during throughput tests.
3. Configure Sonar Servers:
- Set Mobile Eye to use internal Sonar servers where available for testing.
- Confirm that changes to default Sonar servers are saved as "none" to prevent external tests.
4. MOS/Voice Test Clarification:
- MOS/Voice tests run against Sonar, based on location or default settings.
5. Monitor and Verify Changes:
- Monitor data consumption on both home and internal networks.
- Confirm that the adjustments made have resulted in reduced data usage.
- If further issues arise, consider reaching out to support for additional assistance.
Note:
- Enabling the proxy server may impact bandwidth during throughput tests.
- Sonar is HTTP-only, so review your proxy configuration/settings for potential impacts.
By following these steps, you should be able to mitigate the high data consumption issue in Mobile Eye and optimize your network performance. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our support team for assistance.
